    Hi Guys,

I have read Martin's article and I still can't get my head around this and hope you'll be patient.

My wife and 2 children had asthma and there are times that they end up in the hospital if they have severe attacks. Will this be considered a pre-existing condition? If not how can you make a claim if you don't get any receipts by being admitted to an NHS hospital? My wife is also wearing glasses and had recently had prescription with boots and paid around £200 for her new glasses. Will this also be considered a pre-existing condition?

Lastly if let's say for example I have back pains and had an appointment with a physiotherapist in an NHS hospital, can I make a claim or do I need to see a private physiotherapist to make my calim valid?

I am sorry if my questions seems stupid but I am interested of getting my family cover if I've got it right.

    Many thanks in advance.

These plans sound quite good. I was just wondering whether it'll be worth it for us.

DH, myself and DS don't pay for prescriptions, dental treatment or optical charges.

I like the idea of the plans paying out for alternative treatments but when they say they don't pay for existing problems, how do they know this? Can they check our medical records?

I've noticed that some plans require a GP's referral. Surely if I was to do this then I'll might as well get it done on the NHS. Why pay for a plan?

I also like the idea of the maternity payment. We're planning on having another baby sometime next year.

Anyone on here already an existing customer of one of these plans? Is it hard to find someone who offers the relevant treatment that they approve of?

    Many thanks.

  • I am writing for some advice. I think I am right but thought I should check.

I am wanting to get laser eye surgery. if I take out the cash plan Martin has sugested for me in this article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1087156515,79991 I am single so would use http://www.bhsf.co.uk/ it says for 6.50 a month I could get £100 off eye care including laser eye surgery. I could get one eye done one year and one the next year optimax offer £395 per eye so could get it for £295.

  • Hi
I signed up for HSA two days before martins guide came and out and it got me a bit worried that they didn't come out too well. But I am still happy with them. They are allowing me to claim for a pre-existing chronic condition although it won't apply to hosptial stays I can claim for my very regular ostepath treatments which as you can imagine aren't cheap but currently essential. It will cover about 10 of these, then I want to go back to wearing contact lenses which they allow you to claim if you pay be DD, so if I combine the annual contact lense bill and my osteopath maximum reclaim I will have got out more than i paid them in a year. Also you can claim as soon as you join which is a HUGE bonus.

My top tip for anyone with a pre-exisiting condition is to phone the company you are considering and tell them and ask specifically how much of it will be covered.

  • I'm going to switch from Foresters as the drop from 80% to 60% to pay for complementary therapy makes it less worthwhile for me :)

I saw you can get a year's subscription to HSA through Tesco Clubcard points. You need £28.50 of Clubcard Vouchers for a whole family which seems quite good:T

I am not sure if you can continue paying for the insurance by vouchers for other years coming:rolleyes:

    Hi,

A while ago I took out a dental cashplan with HSA. Now I already have some private dental cover through my husband's work benefits, but you can only amend your membership once a year in April, so for the last few months I have effectively been both a member of his work private scheme, and also the HSA cashplan.

I need some dental work doing, but for one area the private dental cover provides a better level of cover than the HSA - but HSA is better for the rest of the work.

My question is, is there any problem with sending the same bill to both HSA and the private scheme to claim for different elements, or would that cause difficulties?

    Thanks.

Hi, sorry if this is posted elsewhere.
It looks like you can get 1 year of HSA level 1 family cover with £28.60 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers. I know this is basic cover and not the best company but still seems like a good deal, I think (normal price £114.40). Tesco website says you must get your vouchers by 31st August 2007, so maybe this deal is ending soon.

I've been looking at this with great interest as i'm contemplating getting contact lenses in the near future.

However for optical benefit almost everywhere is limited and states the benefit is over the course of 2 years, not one. Thus i'm estimating my contact lenses will cost around 15-20 quid a month as an average and over one year will max the benefit.

Would i have to move to a new plan to make use of the optical benefit from year to year?
