We had an infestation of these.
Insecticide and steam cleaning killed them in the end.

if you get a powder from a diy place for crawling insects that will see them off. take out any fish or birds you may have though as its harmful to them. leave the powder for as long as you can prior to vacuuming. a few days is ideal. then when you have vacuumed make sure you empty the bag.

i am told they can enter house via an old birds nest but i am convinced mine started when i had my new carpet as there were a couple of dead ones in the roll.

thanks you all for your input, steam clean is going to be done this week, and im going to move everything out the bedroom again clean/hoover and, infact pull carpet up to se if i can see anything, tried this last time but couldnt find any!

Also the crawling powder stuff,id love to buy bottles of the stuff and put it down, however i do have fish, the tank is large and is a marine reef, which has been in place for many years and will be impossible to move.

is there anything that is fish safe??anything i can try, sorry i should of said in my first post,appologys..

found 2 live this morning, usual place one on the bedroom window cill, and one on the inside of the curtain lining, there just waiting for me to open the window.little gits!!

all i know is that fish are very suseptible (!) to the stuf either in spray or powder form so whatever you use ensure that your tank is covered by plastic or something i f you use them

personally I would try Wilkos ant killer. It's a clear liquid spray.

Reason i would recommend this is when I was using it to deal with an in-house ants nest it shifted the woodlice (and anything else that tried to cross it's path) too. Got rid of the ants in the end.

I would also have a window sticker (the kind that kills flies, Rentokill (I think) make them and Mr T sells them (as do other places but I find them more reliable even though I hate shopping there but anyway) in every affected room. Link to Amazon - they are really good, these...

Anyway I used that stuff with a cat in the house and toddlers.

re the mothballs - they won't KILL the insects (well not unless you lob the balls at the insects and hit them) it's the smell that deters the insects (naphthalene). You can get, from Betterwear (among other places) CEDAR WOOD balls - cedar deters insect, smells better (and is safer) than mothballs.
