Floor Screeding/Self levelling

We are converting the kitchen, dining room and utility into one big kitchen family room. The floors are all different and different levels even some differing levels in the same room (house was a builders job! ..a bad builders job!) . The kitchen currently has laminate but it quite obviously has a big lip in the middle of it - we asked the builder what the heck he had done and he said he had just tried to meet the old concrete floor with the new concrete floor(extension) and didn't get it quite right! The utility has dodgy looking tiles and it is already about one tile depth difference between the laminate (I guess roughly the level of some of the kitchen concrete). The dining room is wooden floor boards and seems resonably level but about 2 inches off the top of the laminate (maybe 1 inch off some of the concrete kitchen flooring). Basically three different levels all within 1-2 inches and 3 different surfaces. What would be the cheapest way to level it all? Would a self levelling product be appropiate or is it too much to fill? btw it is about a whole area of 45m2 . Would floor scredding be the other option , if so what kind of price are we looking at? My other half is very handy (even if I do say so myself) but one thing which he won't try is plastering as he is worried he won't get it perfect so I doubt he'd try floor screeding.

Thankyou in advance

As a plasterer it is difficult to give advice without looking but as a rough guide floor screed can be layed to a depth of around 50mm - 75mm, at a cost of around 12 quid a square meter [including mat]. self leveling compound it good for areas with slight deveations up to 8 mm and obiously at a cheaper cost as a bag is less than a tenner, covers a lot more area, and can be done in a lot less time.
It depends what you intend to put on the finished surface ie if a wood floor is going down then the area could be batterned out with timber and levelled through. In my opinion Floor screeding is quite a skilled job and best left to a professional, but im gonna say that arnt I !

ps i hope you didnt pay the full amount to the builder, for sub standard work.

Thanks for the reply. I will get a couple of quotes from plasterers I think.
We are planning on tiling after so I imagine there is a little space for error that could be adjusted with adhesive and stuff, but I am not sure!
No we didn't pay full price for the house.. we knew it had all the faults it does but the main bonus for us was that the extension was done which would of been difficult for us with 2 children under 3.

    Thanks
