Please soooooo far ....

Hi all I stared my journey on the 23rd March I was lucky enough to have a very good friend help me go through every thing.

Well in the last 10 days I have stopped drinking Pepsi and have saved a minimum of £15 !!!!!! (I did drink quite a lot !!!!):o

I have also swapped 2 cards on to 1 with 0% interest so that has saved approx £146.00 a month also we are now paying the balance off the card rather than just mainly the interest !!!!!!

I also spoke to my mobile phone provider and have swapped to a cheaper call plan which will save £20.00 a month. Me and hubby also stopped a couple of subscriptions saving £25.11 a month

Also not popping to my local shop so much which is saving money as well just doing one weekly shop and then cooking every thing from scratch if we havnt got it then well we make do with out :)

So in total I have managed to save £206.11 minimum a month :j
I have also joined quite a few survery sites and have totals of approx £10 across them all at the mo.....:)

So the question is what can I save in the next 10 days ????

Any tips or advice would be fab I could not have do as I have so far with out you guys :j

  • Hi Fizzy702, this is going off on a bit of a tangent, but I've found a sodastream has saved us a fortune so far.

Just posting this in case you get withdrawal symptoms from the lack of pepsi - the cola syrup tastes more like pepsi than coke.

I prefer sparkling water and my son loves his fizzy drinks, but since using the sodastream for both I'm saving at least £10 a week from the shopping bill and that paid for the contraption in just 3 weeks.

Sorry if this is sounding like an advert, it's not (honestly!) but the gas cannisters do at least 60L for £7.99 and the cola syrup is £2.99 for 12L. You just use tap water and it cuts down on the recycling and lugging home large bottles in the shopping too.
    Debt Free 🍾 since 6.8.13 £31,997
    Saving for 🎄 🎁 2025 £500/£800 62.5%
    6 mth 🆘 fund £6k
    Mortgage offset fund £24.7k/£39.4k 62.7%
It turns out the answer to my problems wasn’t at the bottom of this tub of ice-cream, 🍨 but the important thing is that I tried...

    Hi
Have you checked your gas and electricity to see if you are on the best deals for you?
    Also same with any insurances.

Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

  • For anyone else interested, sodastream gas and syrups are at Argos, Lakeland, Robert Dyas as well as local independents if you're lucky.

Well done with the pepsi though, it's hard if it's your favourite; sometimes nothing else will quench thirst till you have the stuff you really like!

    More ideas:

Do you smoke? At £6 or more per packet, even cutting down by half can save £80 a month.

Check out the vinegar thread on the old style board, the smart price stuff at Asda is 13p a bottle; I now use it instead of fabric conditioner, also for all kitchen surface cleaning (brilliant on stainless steel) and for glass. It saves a fortune on cleaning products.

Read newspapers online - why pay for something that's available free?
