  • Don't think their is a specific age. Just basically when they can move a mouse and click it.

Most of the first games you can get for children are mouse clicking ones followed by games that use the keyboard a bit more. (Educational ones).

Go on PC Worlds website and look at the education software as the youngest childrens age groups for software are about interactive learning. Most will be disney titles.

Once you've got the titles look around for the cheapest place to get them, probably Ebay where children have outgrown the game/software.

This was a site that we used when my son was younger
    http://nickjr.co.uk/play/index.aspx

The CBeebise site is good too

Also had a book with CD called 101 Things to do with your PC - or something like that

  • I could prorgam a BBC micro B by the time I was 6... there was very little you could break with them, so I was just left alone with books and a ... wait, my parents were rubbish!

So that's why i've ended up an IT consultant

Nick Jr ia great for the kids! My boys are nearly 4 and 6 and have been playing on it for about 3 years:) It is educational and you don't need to worry about the content.
The world is full of Pink Fluffy Clouds......you just need to open your eyes to see them:)

  • Another great site for little ones is https://www.boohbah.com. It's very intuitive, very easy to play games and makes some very interesting noises. From a programming point of view it's pretty amazing, too.
Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you do criticise him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.
  • I'm not sure if you can still get them but you used to be able to get soemthing that clips onto your keyboard that had big shapes etc on that went together with software. That might be a good idea for a first stop.

Whenever they can understand what they are doing i suppose and not just bash the keyboard to bits!

PC's can be good educational tools for children but dont forget traditional games too and making sure they get enough excercise. :)

    https://www.kneebouncers.com is fantastic for toddlers.

Its activated by each key press - so bash away.

My DD is 32 months and can now navigate the screen and use a mouse to get to whatever puzzle she wants
    Fat and proud lol
