British Gas - an apology
Recently I may have had a few choice words about the sheer incompetence of Britsh Gas, their website and their staff.
This was mostly caused by two attempted transfers to their generally 'top of the comparison charts' Click Energy tariff. The first time I managed to transfer my electric to them (and even received my £20 Quidco), but after 3 months still had no online access, luckily I moved house so was able to leave the sorry mess in someone elses hands and close the account.
I stupidly didn't learn from my mistakes and attempted to sign up a second time in our new property. After hearing nothing over the course of 4 weeks (whilst my gas transfer generated quite a few letters and Direct Debit setups etc.) I contacted BG to tell them about my change of heart and how I had seen the error of my ways and no longer wished to join their bastion of customer satisfaction. Only to be told they had no idea who on earth I was and that despite switching to them via their own website they had never heard of me so there was nothing to cancel.
Yet today, they paid me another £20 Quidco for joining them.
So British Gas, I salute you. You aren't complete idiots who haven't a clue what you're doing in your own completely shambolic way...you're.....erm....oh OK....you're still a shambolic waste of space (but thanks for the cash)
