Their mattresses are actually quite cheap, and in fact, good value for the quality. How much do you think is reasonable to spend? If you're planning to spend less than at least a couple of hundred pounds, you're going to end up with a crappy mattress that will crock your back and attack every soft part of you with springs.0

i am looking for around £200 for the spring orthopaedic one...theirs cost around £4-450...which i think isn't cheap0

So I take it that it's a double/king size you're looking for?
The Ikea one is advertised as having 187 springs/sq m. That's not much different to the Sealy one in Argos at £599. If £200 is all you're willing to spend, then Argos might be a good place to look, as they've got several on the website reduced to half-price. It rather depends on the bed you're buying whether these will fit - in general, the Ikea ones are wider, so unless the bed's got a raised lip round it that you'll bark your knees off every time you get into it, you shouldn't have a problem using a slightly narrower mattress.0 -
i have bought an ikea matress and i think they are good value for money. DD also has an ikea bed frame and matress on her bed, i did try the fit on DS bunkbed but it was a very tight fit. wouldn't recommend it.
you also have to buy their sheets too, for a really good fit. BUT they are very comfy. i love my new bed, and look fowad to bed time.susiesue

We have an Ikea bed and mattress - king size, cheapish bed frame but expensive mattress, and I would say - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
The mattress after three years is absolutely shot - springs coming through under pillows, by feet and bums - we don't use it as a trampoline, it's just poor quality. We chased them as they're supposed to be covered by guarantee, but how we're meant to get the mattress to them more than 30 miles away in our little hatchback I don't know.
Also, the mattress size is not the same as the bed frame - we have always had more than 5cm around each edge of the mattress before you meet the bedframe, if you see what I mean? like the mattress should have been 10 cm bigger in both directions.
we have finally saved our clubcard points enough and ordered a £600 bed from MFI last week with £150 of points - that dreadful ikea bed is going to the tip - :TOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -
