Renewing a fluorescent light

My son in law has tried to replace a fluorescent light fitting in his kitchen but cannot get it to work. There are 4 wires coming from the ceiling, 2 red 2 black and 1 yellow and green. He has identified the black wire from the switch, but is still unsure on how to wire the light up, can anyone please help?

Connect the 2 reds together with a choccy block and then ignore them. They don't need to be attached to the light fixture. The switched live goes to the live (or brown) terminal and the other black to the neutral (or blue) terminal. The yellow /green one goes to the earth terminal.
But why the bloody hell is he changing a light if he hasn't got a clue what he is doing?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Thanks for the reply but he has already sorted it out, as for the other question he is a tight bar steward;)0
