My son is starting to drive but i'm horrified at the cost of insurance once he has passed. He has heard of some instructors offering a BTEC in safe driving which is claimed to reduce premiums by at least 15% from selected insurers when completed. Apparently it stands alongside usual driving lessons and includes motorway tuition post test. Has anybody else heard of this and does it do "what it says on the tin"

Sounds like he is talking about the Pass Plus course that can be done after passing his test, some insurance companies will give a discount for people that have done the course, you will need to ask when you get a quote from them.
