Twitter advice - are we spammers?

I am paranoid about companies who claim to check to see if people entering RT competions are spammers - what does that mean? My time line is mostly RTs - does this mean I look like a robot or something?
I do try to add a few normal comments in, but I wouldnt say I have oddles of twitter friends I chat to, that isn't what I use it for
This has stemmed from one company stating they would not release a prize to anyone who looked as if they purposly enter bulk competitions - and that they needed to be a real person.
I am real
bahhh!!!!! xx
Ant tips or should I just keep going?

Thanks for starting this, I'd really like to know too.
Plus I see people constantly RTing comps how do you know when it is a 1 entry or not?
Sorry and another - is it best to copy & paste a RT or just push the button?
TIA*** Thank you to everyone that posts ***0 -
Hi
I don't know the answers to your questions but I have won a few things from Twitter so I must be doing something right.
It is difficult to know the rules on Twitter comps but I always have a quick look at their page to see if they've been posted in another tweet, or some companies have a link to T&C. If it's just 1 tweet per entrant then they'll usually say.
I use Tweetdeck as I find it easier to use. It's also got the option to edit then retweet (the equivalent of Copy & Paste) which I always use as I've noticed a few tweets lately saying an entry is more difficult to track if people just hit the retweet button. Not too sure on this one though.
As for the original post about spamming, I do try to talk to people. There's lots of friendly compers on there to chat to, and you can always tweet at companies. Are you following many compers? Just see what they are doing as lots of them win regularly on Twitter. Also, make sure you personalise your Twitter page with a photo and bio. Lots of the spammers have just got the twitter egg pic!
ETA: and always make sure you RT the original competition post. You need to click on the @name and RT from there. I've noticed an increase lately of people RTing my competition tweets and this won't enter you into the competition, and could disqualify me.
I hope this has helped. I'm @joanneblunt on twitter.
Good luck:AThanks to all those who post comps:A0 -
I'd have to say, most companies like you to RT as much as possible - that's just my experience (I'm @MySonsSpongeMad on Twitter and most of you who know me, know I tweet a lot and as such have won quite a lot in the 4 months I have been comping since December). There are a few who don't like compers to enter their competitions and as such would eliminate you from winning, but I do think it's only a small amount - let's face it - the aim of the company is to get their name out there as much as possible and bring in new followers to entice them with their offers and products. If they've got an hashtag, they want it to get trending - the only way that will happen is if lot's of people tweet/RT it a lot. My tweet count is over 30,000 tweets and the vast majority of them are made up of competition tweets. I blog about my wins and if any of you have seen it, you will see that tweeting often has not hindered me in any way.
I think some other compers may not like it, but lots of other compers do the same - I really do believe tweeting often is the key to winning and let's face it - if someone doesn't like your tweets, they don't HAVE to follow you and if they don't, they won't see your tweets anyway!
I do chat to some other compers, but overall I don't really talk to many people - just a small amount, so the majority of my tweets every single day are competition tweets - I tweet in the site or on my phone and tweet as much as possible except when I got to bed of course lol!
Hope this helpsx

Ive won loads on Twitter to, most of my wins come from Twitter and I mostly just comp on there.
I think the previous posts explain it really well.
I think a lot of it is luck to though.

It was Ripeapps http://twitter.com/#!/ripeapps
They originally were giving away an Ipod to the 500th RT but refused to award the prize to anyone who they saw as being a professional comper.
You have to scroll down the wall to see it, 16 March ish.
Its just been stuck in my mind since I sent them a message saying I felt dissapointed at the competition exclusion and that I was not a spammer.Wishing you all good luck!

Yes - but after they said all that they awarded the ipod to someone who just did comps apparently!
They are in the USA anyway so if you win from them you will have to pay customs charges.0
