As part of the crafts sessions I'm running, we will soon be making and decorating a chocolate log. This will be a cheap 14p chocolate swiss roll from tesco/asda. I will then make a BIG batch of chocolate buttercream (we have 10 kids in the session plus 4 adults).
The Swiss Roll will then be covered in chocolate buttercream and a fork used to make log markings. The kids will then be making icing/maripans holly, snowmen, santa's, rudolphs to decorate their logs to take home with then. Not to mention the icing sugar sieved snow!
Just thought I'd share the idea with you!

Leni, your job always sounds so interesting. Are you employed or do you come up with these things yourself & get someone to run them. Either way, very enterprising.
plus, i'd really like a slice of choclate log now please....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
I'm employed as a Community Development Worker which basically means I work towards getting people involved in things and making a difference to their own lives and the communities in which they live. I work with a specific group of people though some work across a geographical area or like me - which a particular group.
It can be all very exciting but sometimes it can be very draining. You often do things for no thanks and in effect if I do my job properly, I'll work myself out of a job because I'll have developed people enough and gave them the confidence to make real change without my support.
Thing is I have to go home and "try out" all these idea's - so I know they'll work.
This week we are finishing off these gremlin things and decorating mugs/photoframes.
Next week we are baking
Week after we are making chocolate logs (night before we have a christmas disco and game)
week after we are going to the cinema to watch Santa Claus 3

we did similar in school as a kid..
We also did something with smartprice mini rolls - we took a digestive biscuit and stuck on a roll end on - then added icing and decorations to make it look like a candle by allowing white icing to run down the sides like melted wax etc.0 -
