The wonderous way 'social' housing is allocated

In most cases, you would need to have another 2 or 3 at least. Hell of a price to pay. As most social landlords will allocate to accommodate the current household and no more, are you suggesting that those in social housing as well as those renting should stop having children? ie just the wealthy should breed?0 -

would that really be such a bad idea?
problem is who would they get to clean their houses? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

Of course not, in fact too much money and surrogate care from hired staff, can be a recipe for disaster.
However that said, I kind of agree that the African saying that it takes a whole village to bring up a child, has an element of truth about it.
Methinks a child having a mother, a father, and other extended family members stands a better chance in life.
I'm very liberal in my attitude to raising children but I don't see why the rest of us should pay for the irresponsible. Raising children is probably the most responsible task that the average adult can undertake.0 -

Because children are the future, for ALL of us?0 -

can't say i have noticed.
but do i think only people who can afford all the costs of having children should have them? (and i'd include education and healthcare in that), then ideally - yes.
of course once they're here you can't punish the child and need to provide them with as many opportunities as you can.
but is it right to make people who have brought children into the world without the means to provide for them feel guilty and judged? i'm afraid i think it probably is.Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

So, society means nothing to you?0 -

You been watching "Dream School" on Channel 4 ?
As our globe heads towards a population of 9 billion - a trebling in my life time? Too many feral children could be the death of us?
It is Easter Island writ large isn't it?
Have you worked with teenage children? I have worked with 15 year old boys at the last chance special school.
The sad thing was that most of them had potential that had been stunted because they had chosen the wrong parents.0 -
