LloydsTSB biggest Scrooges Xmas 2006

I would like to nominate LloydsTSB as the biggest set of scrooges this side of Christmas. Recently they contacted me asking me if I would like a payment break from £400 month loan for the month of December. A loan which is in it's final year, one which as always been paid on time along with credit card. And a bank account that is always in credit. As I am short of money this year I thought this would be an excellent idea to buy the kids some pressies and take some of the financial pressures away from me if just for Christmas. Save me turning to catalogues etc which are always too expensive IMO. Anyway they sent me some forms, which I duly read, signed and returned. They then wrote to me this morning and told me everything was in place just give them a call with the date when I wanted the break. I was under the impression that everything was sound so I rang and short reply was 'no' as I had failed their credit check (didn't know they did one for payment breaks so be aware). I got one of the most arrogant people on this planet whom said (amongst other things), after I queried the forms and letter this morning, we never promised you it in the first place! Why do they have to be so nasty for? Surely this isn't in their job remit? Okay the request failed but why the need to build up hopes and then dash them. Not to mention the individual with poor manners over the phone. And I'm baffled as to why the credit check failed. Why do I feel like crying? :(

One ray of hope is that we are due an inheritance soon and other than paying off what we owe them LloydsTSB aren't going to see one single penny of it! icon10.gif

id report the cocky sh!tes for promising something which was 'sold' to you under false pretences. did it state you were going to have a credit check? you can use as your arguement you weren't told, because if you were aware of the procedure you would have declined the offer, but they have now left a 'footprint' in your credit score. also arent their calls recorded to prevent this happening? they must have on record somewhere the original team member offering and finalizing with you??
and then lastly report the tw*t who thinks its their god given right to speak to you like that? youve been a loyal customer and have no outstanding issues so what gives them the audacity to speak to you like that??
    take care
    piper5 xx

please dont get upset, you feel down because the staff member spoke to you like you were nothing, probably because you failed their credit check, which if you have credit cards and credit, is a bit baffling??

Oh dear! We have just applied for a repayment holiday for December too. DH called and was told (very helpfully) we will send you a form, you sign it send it back and it will be taken from there. No mention of credit checks so we were under the impression that it was going thru. Off to read the small print of the letter now to see if it mentions credit checks.

This sounds very weird, there must be either incorrect or very misleading wording on these letters to make everyone think the same.

Belle, as someone else says, report the agent who thinks it's OK to speak to anyone like that. At least you will feel better about that. And deffo query the bit about the credit check. Most of their lines are 0845 (including complaints), but their application for loan is 0800 092 1290, you could try that and ask to be put through. Good luck and don't let some bad-tempered jobsworth upset you. :) xx

Ive just read both letters that came with the form that had to be signed and sent back, as far as i remember our copy is the same as the one we signed for them and there is no mention of credit checks at all. So if its refused on the basis of a credit check then we will be quering it.

They need to inform you if theyre going to a proper credit check via the agencies, so thats their first mistake if this isnt clear. If its an internal scoring then why send out the letters to people who arent eligible, and especially after sending a letter saying it was fine...? I hate lloyds and they need more bad publicity, but its mad to see they are creating it needlessly by this.
  • Being a former employee of these scheisters, I am not surprised at the attitude of the Lloyds TSB staff - customer service is not something this company is famous for.
Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

  • I sent a really strongly worded email of complaint to Lloyd's about 4 months ago due to a woman in their collections dept. calling me a liar on the phone and repeatedly phoning me 2 x day for 8 days. The letter i received back up held my complaint as they had failed in their guidelines set down for dealing with customers with debt. It also stated that they were retraining certain members of the dept. Rest assured all these calls are recored so if you can pin point the day and time of when you spoke to them the chances are they will rule in your favour. I got all charges stopped on my account through doing this and bank charge refund paid it all off anyway i also had all my credit facilities re instated with them. Give it a try.
