Uninstall crapware

Got myself a compaq laptop. Neat looking laptop. Am in the process of creating recovery discs (yawn). Since i am on NTL broadband and use AVG antivirus etc i do not need AOL and norton software which are installed. Are they easy to uninstall? Is it a matter of going to start - control panel - add/remove programs?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Just google and you will find out how to remove AOL and Norton as they won't simply remove from Add/Remove.

is there any harm in keeping it on? just not keen on going onto an unknown site to install something to uninstall the above unless you or someone can recommend a website.

Yes you must only have one real time anti-virus installed on your system otherwise expect problems.

Norton and AOL are notorious for the way they insinuate themselves into other programs as well, so unless you're really keen to keep them to actually use, get rid of them.

Just delete the shortcut. Even if you did find a reference in Add/Remove it would not remove AOL from you system, if it was installed. Your shortcut is probably just an install shortcut.
