Misanthropy

I've not posted in this forum before, but reading the supermarket rant reminded me of my own pet-peeve:

I hate it when you are waiting at the baggage carousel at the airport and everyone crowds around it. I always stand three steps away, and if everyone did that, everyone would be able to see every bag, and could just approach it well in advance to get their bag. But because some people crowd round, then everyone else ends up doing it too.

I refuse to, and always stand back, but it means I have to concentrate really hard on whether or not my bag is coming, by looking through the gaps in where the selfish people are standing. I always get my own back by swinging it wildly to pull it off the carousel, whacking whichever idiot was stupid enough to be stood so close when their bag wasn't even there :D

I do worry I am a bit of a misanthrope. I get annoyed to a scary degree by relatively minor things like littering, bad driving and spitting. Even just people putting shoes on bus seats or not putting the free paper back in the basket on buses makes me wish all kinds of bad things on people. I feel like I should go and live in the far east where everybody seems so polite, for the sake of my mental health :p

Isn't that just a hatred for rude manners and the baggage system? Surely if you was a misanthropist you'd want to kill everyone in the bus queue even before you'd got on the bus and seen shoes on seats?
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I agree with every word of this. I also hate waste in any shape or form, down at the amenity tip, you see quite serviceable furniture being chucked into skips, why not give it to the Social Services or a charity shop, or advertise it free of charge. It irritates me beyond measure, perhaps its our ages.:D
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

To be fair, when it comes to furniture, the charities can be incredibly picky.

'elf an safety an all that.

From what I've read/heard, I'm not surprised many chose to deposit it in their local landfill.

And again in fairness a lot of modern furniture is so shoddy that the tip is all they're fit for (I'm looking at you, Sweden!). Flatpack chipboard rubbish that barely stands up under its own weight (but in fashionable colours) just turns to mush if you ever try to move it after using it!

At the very end of the scale, even if they gave it to kids for bonfire night, it would give some pleasure to someone.
See the kids faces watching the bonfire, eating their toffee apples, watching the fireworks with the bonfire going.

Just make sure that, when you pick up your case, you smack it into the shins of the people in your way.

I don't even agree with the death penalty. But I can't help but think to myself if I see someone put their shoes on the seat: 'maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing for mankind if you were hit by a bus'. That's when I tell myself I need some perspective :)

Based on my experience of Seoul I reckon you'd witness more spitting and bad driving there than here. Japan on the other hand is probably going to be your kind of place.

I agree, or take old washing machines to the local scrap dealer, I helped a friend remove an old unworking washing machine from their house they just moved into. I thought i would try the local scrap dealer and got nearly £12 for it. Apparently the staff said the local tip staff bring up the washing machines that people dump and make a fair bit of money from it.

If somebody intentionally whacked me with their baggage I'd grab it off them and whack them back.
