Plastic or chrome shower mixer attachment?

Were looking to get an attachment to our bath taps so we can use it as an over the head shower.

Our hot water will get pumped so both hot and cold water will be good pressure.

Are the plastic ones that fit onto seperate taps any good? should i worry about them slipping off or the plastic tubes breaking?

Or is it better to get one of those shower type taps fitted? i mean ones where you can just attach a hose and shower head but also use the taps whenever you want?

If anyone has experience of using both it would be interested in finding out which you think is better.

As Ormus mentioned get the taps replaced you may need to check the water pressure if going for thermostatic units.
