bad camper van experience

I put £1000 deposit on a camper van at North wales campervans for a van at the end of january, 2 days later agreed verbally with seller that he would change our order to a diesel model and that he had plenty in stock to chose from. We visited him the following weekend but he showed us nothing but said he could get us one. Since then he has given us total runaround, saying he had one but was waiting for paperwork,finally after many phonecalls and cancelled viewings he told us to go to his premises in Llandudno at 7 on wednesday and he would have a bongo there for us to view and he would convert it for us. When we got there a young lad waas about to lock up and had no knowledge of our visit, phoned owner and asked for my deposit back, he became verbally aggressive and slammed phone down. Have sent him a letter asking for return of deposit, will I get this money back? Am I covered on credit card?

yes paid by credit card my partner and me both had conversations with him about getting a diesel instead of one we agreed to buy and part exchange our car for, first saying he had one in storage for us, then changing this to he was getting one from docks in southampton,when he asked us to go on wednesday after 7 it was clear when we got there that he had no intention of being there and had told the person working there to lock up at 7.

Sounds likie cc charge back is called for.

thanks have phoned credit card company and they said they will send me a form to fill in and post it back to them. Anyone any idea how long this takes to get money back as have already paid balance on card to avoid interest.
