Economy 7 meter - switching suppliers

I am soon to have an economy 7 meter fitted as required by my supplier. [At present I have two separate old-style meters]

I know I can switch my provider if I wish (not being in a contract period now) but does the meter, once installed, restrict me only to 'ecomony 7' alternative tariffs in future?

BUT do you have overnight storage heaters?

If so you'd be silly to have an ecc 7 meter and not be on a ecc 7 tarriff! Otherwise you'll be charged the same rate for day and night (normal and low) usage.
