Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to pay off my debts and am looking for ways to save on my bills.
Whilst we were having that lovely sunny weather last week, I resolved not to put the central heating back on and planned to use throws and jumpers during the chilly evenings, owever it can get extremely chilly during the evening, can anyone advise my on the most economical way to warm up the lounge?
Is it cheaper to put the central heating on for a very short time, or to invest in a heater to use for brief periods during the evening- not sure what cheapest, calor gas, electric fan, oil filled or those halogen types?
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks :rotfl:

Probably best having ch on or a gas fire. If you have ch on and you have thermostat valves in all radiators just have the rooms you use at night ie living room and turn others on low0

Assuming you have gas C/H, to get a given amount of heat into the HOUSE, this will be cheapest.
However if you wish to heat just one room it gets more problematical. If you turn off all the other radiators in the the house apart from the room you wish to heat - it may or may not be - impossible to tell.
A gas fire is the next best thing - unless you have to pay a lot of money to buy/install it - but you might consider that to be an investment.
Bottled gas is a bit pricey to buy the heater and pay a hefty deposit on the gas bottle.
ALL electric heaters are 100% efficient, and cheap to buy, so get what you think looks/suits your needs best - AND you can cost the use of an electric fire very easily.0
