Just thought I'd add to this one.... :D

I registered with a company called CPR (Call Prevention Registry) as the TPS doesn't work in my opinion! And they have blocked all annoying marketing calls (and DCA's from my ex partner) apart from one company.... So far this week I have had the "£3750 for an accident" text, "Do you want us to do a Will for you?" phone call and Auto Trader plagueing me 3 times a day. It is all from the same company according to CPR and getting slightly tedious now..... (they say they know who it is and they are well known for it)

So its some company that has no doubt bought your details from somewhere just to irritate you :mad::mad:

PS Texting STOP doesn't work :(:( I've done it 3 times now and still keep getting them!!! Barstewards.... thats all I have to say!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

The problem is now that you have texted stop, they know your number is real & active.

The same scam was pulled a couple of years ago by sending people a letter saying they had won a holiday to the value of £3750

This was the accident when we hit each other, don't you remember ? I'm claiming, aren't you ? Mines an email by the way, not a text.

Had a few of the 'accident' version of these over the last couple of months, usually a couple in quick succession then nothing for ages. Like the OP, my reaction was "what accident?!?" and a flash of annoyance at being on the receiving end of such junk. ;) You can see how people are conned, though!

I did have a nice "well, at least they wasted the text cost" moment, though - and briefly indulged in a daydream where I got a premium rate number, persuaded them to call me on it, and chatted them out of business... ;)

I did a bit of research into these texts after getting a number of them, so i decided to phone the company and demanded where they got my details from. They told me it was Swinton insurance in the end.

It got me wondering how Swinton had got my details given the fact I've never had insurance with them and so I did some more research.

Apparently when using confused.com and the others, your phone number is given to the insurers (obviously as you often then get texts), so my advice is to put in a false phone number and when 'you' decide you have the best quote, contact the insurer directly and update your details with them ;)

  • I've had a couple of these texts recently and so have my work colleagues. We just ignore them!

I always use a local mps house number when doing a insurance quote..I would love to be there when they phone...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

And they ask to speak with the name you gave, Hugh Janus?
