I put my self employed income at £10,000. Well, I hope I did.

Because I got the card today and they've given me a limit of £6600, which seems high in relation to my income.

Strange things seem to be happening at Barclaycard.

There have been quite a few messages posted here recently by people how have been accepted by Barclaycard, received the all important plastic through the post, then had their account closed.

    I have noticed that too.

I will keep an eye on it and see if that happens with me, although if, as someone suggested, it is to do with a further credit check with a different CRA showing up problems that didn't show on the initial one, I should be OK.

As for the limit itself being a problem, I doubt it, my balance transfers are going to go nowhere near the limit and I will not be using the credit card for purchases, nor I expect needing to apply for any further credit for the next 20 months.

I must have proved I can handle large balances responsibly, must be an alogorithm somewhere, lol

I've got a Capital One CC with a limit of £8600 and an APR of 1.53% (yep I said APR..I even called them to make sure that was correct..apparently it is!) Useful now I'm retired.

Only use it for petrol though.

I have my highest credit limit with the Barclaycard Platinum card; currently £8,100 but received a letter in the post over the weekend notifying me that it'll be £9,600 from next month.

They seem to be very generous. I have very low Equifax credit score of 278 and they gave me card with £1k stright away  Even when I have Vanquis £1k, Capital One £200. +I have been living at my current address just 2 years. But I have decent income. Go and figure out how they do their math.

I applied for 2 credit cards from Barclaycard for myself and my boyfriend before christmas, my income was £16K per year, whereas he is self employed at £25k per year. My credit limit came back at £9600, and he was given £3400?? Based on this, I dont think salary has alot to do with it
