Just had a package returned to me

Hi , as the title suggests I sold an item to an ebayer on 8th March , posted it the same day.

This morning my postman has just returned the parcel to me saying that its being returned because although the left the buyer a card to say it had been taken to his local sorting office , he had made no effort to go and collect it!

Now , this was almost 3 weeks ago , I have heard nothing from him to say that he hasnt received the item which is strange...

Surely if you are waiting on an item to be delivered you would chase it up wit hthe seller before 3 weeks had passesd?

How does this stand? What do I do? I have tried to contact him but it tells me that the contact details ebay hold for him are incorrect and so messages cannot be delivered to him.
The loopy one has gone :j

What about the email address the Paypal payment came through?
It could be that he either didn't get a card, or didn't realise that it's only held for a certain time.
I'd try to email via the paypal email, explain what's happened & ask if he'd like to pay again for delivery.
Was it recorded, I thought that ordinary post was held for 3 weeks before being sent back.

Hi Hermum - yes I had sent the package recorded signed for. So , the package WAS held in the delivery office for 3 full weeks.

My guess is that eventually he will just do a paypal claim!

Im not having the greatest of luck with ebay lately lol

Don't do anything else, wait until buyer contacts you and explain that you could not reach them.

Maybe your customer died, it happens

Iv had this happen before, i just refunded the payment (i guess eventually it will end up with family..)

Send a quick message on eBay to let them know its been returned and ask them if they would like it resending, most buyers in this case will be happy to pay the postage costs, if not you can refund and relist.

Actually recorded is the only service that is not held for three weeks. Recorded is only kept for a week before being returned, so if buyer didn't get to the PO quick enough he could easily have msised it.

See Post #3. The item was sent recorded and held in the sorting office for a full 3 weeks.

When I sold on ebay the man at my sorting office told me "Stuff the rules, every sorting office is different. How long they hold a parcel depends on how busy, and how much storage room they have".

They probably held it for 3 weeks as it would have taken a day or so to get back to you again. Have you tried the buyers paypal email address?

I hadnt thought of that! I will go into paypal now and try that.

I want to make every effort to resolve this as to be honest I dont want a paypal claim opened against me. Cant really afford to lose money at the min.

Will post back to let you know how this pans out.

    Thanks
