Voyager 2091 & 1055 - Any Good?

I'm considering getting a BT Voyager 2091 Wireless Router plus 1055 USB Adapter, to be a XMAS present. Any experiences please - reliable and easy to set up? Thanks.

The BT Voyager 2091 is (at least) a year old, and only does WEP security, not WPA2. At the time (Nov 2005) I tried to find somewhere where you could turn down the signal power, but couldn't (it was going through two walls in a third-floor flat, and at least 50 metres out into the garden!). The installation is pretty straightforward and you just have to read the instructions, and know how to turn over the router to find the WEP key printed on its bottom. Don't know about the 1055 USB Adapter, since the target machine was a wireless-enabled IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad R50e...

Oops! Perhaps it didn't do WPA a year ago, or maybe I just missed it at the time. There's certainly more information available now than there was then. Apologies!

Many thanks for the replies - I wanted to get something that is easier to set up than my Linksys (reliable but a real pig initially) and the BT sounds like it's worth a go. Thanks.

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • I bought the Voyager 2091 from Madasafish to replace my old modem, and had it connected and working no problems in 2 minutes.
