Is that a valid case to complain even though the advisor who spotted this and not the HMRC , and it was he who got in touch with the HMRC ? Please keep all the info and advice coming . THANK YOU
It is not going to be that simple I'm afraid.
You will need to give HMRC far more information about what has happened and why you think ESC A19 would apply to your case.
It can prove to be a fairly complex process, to explain what information has been given to HMRC by you, your employer / pension provider and possibly by the advisor you mention too.
It is impossible for anyone on here to give more specific advice without much more detail, BUT this is a public forum so may not be a suitable place to post that type of information.
Can you talk to the advisor again, who contacted HMRC on your behalf before ? They may be able to offer more specific guidance and/or write to HMRC for you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

BR means Basic Rate and everything is taxed at 20% with no personal tax free allowance.
With only one source of income you should not be on this code. Did you hand in a P45 from aprevious employer or did you complete a P46 if you had no P45?
The absence of a P45 or P46 would be the reason for the BR code.0 -

II have been at the same company (although changing departments 7 months ago) for three years and have been on code 647L up to this month, so seems odd I should get a letter from HMR7C in January to say I will be going on BR from 6th April. Very odd that I should now be on BR?0 -
