boil supply to install?

Hi,
I am starting to get quotes to replace my boiler. There are some gas installers I really like (attitude, promptness, hard working, etc.) but their quote on parts (not labour) are just a little bit higher than others.
Led me thinking if I can source the parts cheaply, I can still use these gas engineers.

Think before I go down this path, I can do with some advices on the following:
1) what are reliable discount boiler suppliers, online or offline
2) what other kits are required that I have to buy to ensure a successful installation, in addition to the boiler itself
3) whether the gas engineer wants to install what you buy, rather than supply it myself? I am not sure if they are generally opposed to just installation (maybe depriving them of some markup on the material prices?)
4) any other issues that might arise for this sort of "supploy to install" job?

I know there are many experts on this board, whether professional or DIY. I would very much appreciate your advice.

Oh yes, I am after a standard condensing combination boiler, gas fired.

Cheers

If a fault develops later, you can call the installer back - he will cover the costs of removing and obtaining the part.

For example, worst case say the boiler breaks down in a months time after its installed. If you supplied the boiler, you'd have to pay the guy to come back, uninstall it, then pay him again when he installs the replacement when your boiler is exchanged. If he supplied it in the first place, it'll be his own cost to replace it. You'd need to be saving a reasonable amount to not get the supplier to fit it.

Another thing to watch for, manufacturer approved installers normally give five year warranties, whereas by default you tend to only get two years warranty.

IME the five year warranty applies to very few boilers. most boilers are 2 yrs.
dont matter who buys it or installs it.

    ps
ch engineers usually only give a 1 yr warranty on their workmanship.
    Get some gorm.

I have not thought about this yet. If the breakdown is caused by the boiler itself, then I will go to the supplier; If it is caused by installation, I will go to the installer. Is this a sensible approach to tackling this scenario?

I am a bit not sure if the installer will like this idea. Is there any reason why they are not keen on this in the trade?
