New Dell - Flickering Hourglass Symbol

I've just been setting up a brand new Dell Desktop (Windows XP Media Centre) and notice that very often there is a flickering Hourglass symbol or a solid Hourglass symbol (my own Packard Bell always shows a solid Hourglass symbol when doing something).

The Dell is literally straight out of the box yesterday, and has McAfee loaded up and running, with a clear virus scan.

Any ideas about the fickering hourglass symbol please, before I fone Dell for advice? Many thanks.

Polybear.

Found the problem - something to do with Linksys USB Drivers not being installed/uninstalled properly (found by using System Restore - everything was ok before loading any software, and not ok afterwards).

So I used System Restore to go back to square one and start again.......
