JSA and mortgage protection

Just a quick question - I'm about to make a claim for contribution based JSA and just wondered if I claim on my mortgage protection policy if this would affect any benefit I would receive?

I need to be claiming and seeking work (which I will be very actively) to qualify, but not sure where the jobcentre stand on payouts from these policies. I'm concerened that if they pay my mortgage this will take me over the income limit so I won't be getting any JSA and the jobcentre will then stop my claim which will then stop my mortgage protection.

Sorry for what may be a silly question, but I've not been out of work for over 10 years and it's a bit scary here.

Contributory JSA isn't affected by the income received from a MPP policy. But income based JSA is.
I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.
  • Thanks for setting my mind at rest on that one. Being made redundant at my age (57) is stressful enough without all the added worries of any rules you might inadvertantly be breaking.
