Afternoon all. WOW............. just back from the car boot sale and made a profit of just over £100. Sales were £160 odd, but had to pay £10 for car, and had bought some items to sell. Managed to double our money on all but 1. The sun was shining, there were loads of nice people to say hello to, and we took our own food and drinks, so no extra outlay. As I said in a previous post, my profit from evilbay needs to pay for a holiday in August for myself, DD and 3 x DGS in a caravan in the New Forest, but this will definitely help. Left DH for a few minutes to run the stall while I had a VERY quick look round. As I walked away he looked like a rabbit in the headlights bless him, but he was more relaxed when I got back and he had sold some items. Quite the entrepreneur. Someone picking up a bed base from me later - he is starting in a new house (think he must have split from wife) and I had advertised some duvet sets on Freecycle which got us talking when he collected them. So, I am having a look round to see if I have anything in the pots and pans line which he can have. What goes round comes round I have found. When my daughter split from her madman of a partner Freecycle was very kind to us. Having some whoopsied sausages for tea - dead posh ones with garlic and suchlike in them! - but dont quite know what to cook with them. Will have to have a thunk. Off to car boot sale to buy tomorrow, and I have 8 items finishing on evilbay. Wish me luck.0

It's about making the best use of the money we have than we can, not getting into debt, clearing any debts we may already have had, and hopefully getting some savings behind us
As such, anyone from any walk of life, with any size of income, and with any sized household qualifies just as well as anyone else for the challengeCheryl0 -
Day 9 Daily Living Challenge - Been busy today as I have been finishing off cake and cupcakes for son's engagement party. Also found a couple of pasta recipes on here to make for the party as well, so thanks to those people who supplied them. :T0

My bread from the Bread maker was a success!! Yipee. It has given me a No Spends day!! Thank goodness.
Although it does mean that I didnt get any wine in to sit and sip in the twilight hours! Oh well, thats even more frugal of me then!
I will make that recipe again though. Never used olive oil in bread before. Super easy.
500g Strong bread flour (I used half white flour and half strong brown)
7g sachet of yeast
3tbls olive oil.
Bunged it in the machine and away it went. medium 500g loaf. ! I had nearly given up hope of ever getting it right of late.
tonights tea is going to be a bit basic as I am not really hungry.
DGD can have dippy eggs and toast.
I will have a small omelette later if I am hungry. I have a couple of rashers of bacon that need to be used up. May use them. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Evening all, for me, today has consisted of:
Cleaned out chickenham palace, everything is scrubbed and fresh wood shavings and my 4 darling chickens are happy again. Forget there was a chalkboard in there so am now chalking up how many eggs I get a week.
Needed new car mats, so cut up the bright red carpet remnant DS gave me and now have very swish bootliner and car mats (front and back) - looks great although really want to make some car seat covers in complimentary material to make it look brill but I don't have the skill or the material!!
Cleaned out garage and put all wood into ONE shed instead of two!! Am now calling it the "wood shed!", so feel happier as I didn't have a wood shed this morning and now I do. Dad also brought me round two bags of chopped wood!
Bought potatoes, onions, rhubarb, carrots, peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes to grow. Got small pick and mix for little un as she's been a star! Spent £13.00. Not sure where to put that in my budget though - maybe under "other".
Made chick pea curry - yum, about to have second helping and then get planting (and digging unfortunately). Planning on going to car boot sale tomorrow to look for the wine making stuff!!! Can't wait.
Enjoy the rest of this lovely day everyone.0 -

That's great! Going to one next weekend so fingers crossed it's a lovely day like today.
Have had a pretty good day - DM arrived and DF & her had got me some lovely new solar lights for the garden so they've been charging up all day and fingers crossed they'll light tonight.
We went out and about for a while, popped into the garden centre & I bought some seeds and some cheap small slabs to put a walkway over the lawn to the washing line.
Pottered around the garden when DM left and I've planted the seeds (spinach, lamb's lettuce & raddish) and have stuck them into the greenhouse (one of the wee plastic ones, not a proper one) - it's looking a bit wobbly as I think the winter got to it a bit so I hope it stays up now there's some heavy tubs in there. 7-14 days germination time so fingers crossed they grow.
DM has my runner beans & peas started with hers and brought her old (homemade) veg planters so I have something to grow them in.:)
Also laid the new slabs so now off for a soak in the bath as I can feel the joints creaking a bit! (Was given some gorgeous bubble bath from the girls at work so will treat myself tonight).
Heating has now been turned off totally - has been off upstairs for the past couple of weeks but every radiator now off. I'm lucky that I have a gas fire in the lounge so if it gets really cold I can just stick that one for 1/2 an hour rather than having to put the "proper" heating on.
Have a great evening everyone.:DGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Glad you had a lovely day rising from the ashes!
I spent ten pounds on lunch today with the family and may be getting a takeaway tonight. I also sent a fortune in the local health food shop on floradix and elderberry extract for my daughter's dreadful immune system! She is constantly ill and now has stress related stomach acid so I hope it will help!
They are coming to sort out the gas on Monday now but now the kitchen cabinets will probably be taken out so I think it will drag on. I forgot to remind my friend to bring her stove on Thursday so we still only have the George Forman. I'm getting a bit weary of it now!
I have been looking back under my weekly and monthly spends and am coming in well under budget and am now saving again in my Isa every week so I am pleased. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

I've been to Meadowhall today - met a girl friend there for the day for a catch up and some retail therapy
I have spent a bit - got a big cardi from Top$hop, a dress from Republ!c and a dvd too
We went to Wagamama$ for lunch which was yummy, and overall it was a lovely day. An added bonus as that Gino D'acampo was cooking live there! So stood and watched him for a bit - making some pasta dish to promote his new book. I must admit, he is good looking!
I'm staying at my grandparents tonight, so just chilling. A great start to the holidays, I must say!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
