ASDA Online Exclusive - They owe me money!

I had a car insurance policy with ASDA online exclusive; but at the end of Jan changed my car. Their price for my new car wasn't competitive so I cancelled the policy and took out a new policy elsewhere.
I had paid my premium up front when I first took out the policy with ASDA; so they should have been refunding me £240; but 2 calendar months later I haven't seen a single pretty penny.
I have just written them a offical letter of complaint as I've just had about enough of their fob offs.

Where are you getting the figure of £240 from?
Have you taken into account any admin fees, cancellation fees etc.
You could end up paying them some more money.
What kind of 'fob offs' have yu been getting?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Who has calculated the return premium? As you have cancelled the policy mid-term your return is unlikely to be on a pro-rata basis - more like short period rates.
Depending on how long the policy has been running you could well be looking at a charge of 100% of the premium plus a cancellation fee.
I do hope that you read the policy terms and conditions before making your complaint otherwise you might feel a bit silly when they send you their letter of explanation referring you to page x of your policy terms and conditions!
However if the insurer promised you a refund of £240 then you are right to bring the matter to their attention.0 -
This has already been decided by the FOS. Pro rata refund minus a reasonable fee.
If they try to use "short term rates" make a complaint, then refer it to the FOS if they don't pay.

The £240 was the sum calculated by their website as due to be refunded to me when I cancelled the policy online.
The website said it would be refunded within 14 days from the date of cancellation.
There subsequent "fob-off" emails have said 30 days from the date which they received my returned certificate of motor insurance. I sent this straight away as soon as policy was cancelled.
Other "fob-off" emails have "apologised" for the delay; but said that each refunded has to be individually checked to ensure customers received the correct amount of refund.
Clearly as its been 2 calendar months since the policy was cancelled; both timesclaes have lapsed and I still haven't seen any sight of the refund.0 -
Can you not just ring them and ask what the heck is going on... it doesn't take 2 months to process a refund when it takes 2 minutes to take the payment to begin with... Sadly as it's an online product only you can only contact complaints@asdaonlineexclusive.co.uk but may be worth putting that you want someone to ring you to discuss it. Give them a strict deadline of 14 days to process the refund or explain why they cannot do this else you will escalate the complaint further.. if they don't play ball you've been reasonable.0
