Painting over sticky surface

Hi,
Over the winter I covered my windows with plastic covers for insulation. I sealed the windows using dualsided tapes.
Now the winter is gone !
It took considerable efforts to take off the tapes but theres a lot of sticky glue left. Since I was gonna paint it over anyway is there much point in trying to completely remove the glues ??
Can I just paint over it ??
Pls help !
Thanks

I've recently taken up my carpets which were stuck down with carpet adhesive, and boy is that sticky stuff! A quick search on the net indicated it is indeed a 'mare to remove but a site suggested WD40 or vegetable oil! Quick spray of WD40, leave for an hour and the stuff came off a treat. It breaks down the adhesive apparently so I'd guess it should do the trick for you.
It does a couple of thousand other things also:

I was going to say WD 40 tooPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

As for over-painting the sticky bits . . depends how bad it is . . and if you can get away with it . . .0 -
