Washer Dryer warranty/repair ( Comet )

Bought one from comet online was delivered 8 weeks ago problem is tried to use dryer function on its own and dryer will not operate, its ok if tagged onto end of a program just wont work independantly.
Now here is the question as it is only 8 weeks old do i have a case to request a new machine or do i have to let them repair it( they think its the control panel on the front of the machine).

When a customer experiences a problem with an appliance, in order to determine the exact nature of the fault we do require some basic diagnostics to be completed via telephone.
If a fault is confirmed, although not always possible, we would look to pre-diagnose the fault and order any parts required to attempt a repair prior to an engineer attending, with a view to minimising any inconvenience caused.
Alternatively if we are unable to complete a repair within a reasonable amount of time, we would consider providing a replacement.
