changing student bank account

im on a 3 year diploma in nursing studies course and at the moment im with royal bank of scotland with a £1300 overdraft facility.
im wondering if i paid off my overdraft would i be able to close down my account and open upa new 1 maybe with barclays (any ideas ne1 pls if they are good to students?)
im not to keen on royal bank,,everytime i have an enquiry about my account, i use it to pay in bursary, part time wages, pay direct debit bills and my mortgage, i get the impression im creating work for them,
obv when i qualify i want to be with an understanding bank

    You can generally move student bank accounts without any problems. Personally I have also had problems with Rbos.

    Id pop into Barclays and have a chat.
