Help
I received a parking ticket which was issued by a company called Ethical Parking. The ticket was issued on a private estate where i live and one night i returned home from work and couldnt park in my designated space, so i parked just round the corner (not in any body elses space or causing an obstruction). In the morning my company car had been issued with a ticket so i appealed via email. After about 2-3 weeks i called as i had heard nothing and the lady stated that it was with the appeals board. I have since moved but set up the post office re direction to foward all my mail. My company have now recieved a letter from a company called Debt Recovery Plus which i contacted and was asked to provide proof of my appeal which i fowarded on they have responded saying that a letter was sent out (which i didnt recieve)but i need to pay £140.00 or face legal action. Can they do this

It's a pity you communicated with them, but never mind. You don't owe these clowns a penny. From now on ignore all letters from them and do not contact them again. One complication is that is a company car. Be sure to tell your employer do forward all letters to you, as this has nothing to do with them. For further reassuarnce, please read the other threads on here that deal with private parking companies. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

We also received a fine for £60 pounds and a photo of our number plate when parked in a private car park late one night - we did not realise that charges applied after 8pm - anyway after reading up about it on the net we decided to ignore it - we did not hear from them again.
If a PCN is not issued by the council or by a PCN on your windscreen then we are in our legal rights to ignore it - they are just a private company scaremongering everyone -
The worst that will happen is if they wish to pursue they will go through small claims (which is too much hasslefor them) and then you can say signs were unclear- but they are making a fortune and in most cases back off once ignored.
Just ignore them from now on, good luck.0 -
PPC Advice
If it's council/police - go to Pepipoo forums and post the details and a copy of the PCN [front and back] on there. Council/Police issue Penalty Charge Notices [and are the only ones allowed to do so].
If it's a PPC then......they issue ‘invoices’ [often made to resemble official PCNs]; often call their invoices Parking Charge Notices [same initials, see part of the scam]. These are legally unenforceable as [leaving aside signage, etc] the PPCs needs to prove who was driving the car [not just name the Registered Keeper (which is all the council/police have to do)]. Nothing else matters.
So in essence
Ignore everything [unless you get an N1 from the court].
Really...ignore everything.
Seriously...ignore everything.
Truly...ignore everything.

I think it's a shame you fell for this generic scam and 'appealed' (as if they would allow any appeals, LOL! It's a private company invoice with NO independent appeal!).
But it's an even bigger shame if your Fleet Manager isn't savvy enough to know a fake PCN when he gets a letter about one (clue - it doesn't come from the Police or the Council!).
The trouble is that your company will get many more letters in that chain of junk mail - and they need to know to ignore it or to name you as the driver if they are worried. Then you can ignore the letter-chain!
Show this forum thread and links to the Fleet Manager so they know the score:
- it's not a real fine and legally any suggestion of trespass or breach of contract alleged by a private firm is up to the driver to ignore or pay, not the company/owner/keeper (they are not liable).
- you will be ignoring it and give them no authority to do otherwise as it's your responsibility
- give them the link to this Fleet News article in case they don't understand this scam:
http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2009...s-urged/30698/
The letter-chain for Debt Recovery Plus/PPC fake PCN is shown in pictures here (easy to ignore):

Also a link to Watchdog on what to do with a fake PCN like this one:

The company should bin any letters about this bogus claim or just file them, no action at all is needed. If they would like to discuss the matter you would be happy to let them know what you are dealing with here (their need for involvement is nothing).
Oh, and if anyone in your company suggests you could have this 'fine' docked from your wages as the company wants to pay it then they can't - it is not a fine and is none of their business, frankly, the PPC should not even be writing to them.
Watchdog new series next week - I think they're going to cover this cowboy industry again!

as above. totally ignore.
somebody (trisontana?) started a thread about these turkeys a few months back.
new kids on the block, it's comprised of 2 failed cops with dodgy 'degrees' in law and a 'graphic designer'. there's nothing 'ethical' about them; their modus operandi is identical to all the other confidence-tricking PPC's.

That was a different company (District Parking). This is their very misleading PR articleWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
