Credit score = 999

just obtained my credit score via creditexpert.co.uk and my score is shown as 999 which is shown as Excellent.

Everything seemed okay apart from a halifax cc that was not shown as settled this has not been used in years and has a 0% balance with a £3k limit - thought this had been cancelled ages ago.

Check all my credit cards, accounts etc and they were all shown in green to be satisfactory.

The following summary was shown on my report although having paid £2000+ recently off a credit card the outstanding debt should be £6.5k by now.

SUMMARY
  • Number of credit accounts (including those settled) - 15
  • Amount of available credit (excluding mortgages) - £16,610
  • % of your total credit being used (excluding mortgages) - 34%
  • Amount of outstanding debt (excluding mortgages and defaults) - £8,740
  • Number of accounts overdue - 0
  • Number of missed or late repayments in the last year - 0
I Will need to apply for some other 0% balance transfer deals in the next couple of months to transfer some of the existing debt to help give me a little more time to pay off - but have budgeted that I can try and pay off at least £250-300 a month to try and get my debt down as quickly as possible.

I even thought about taking a loan out so I could have the added security that I won't run out of credit card 0% deals over the 12-18 monts and that the debt could be paid as cheaply as possible

I'm afraid getting a credit score is a waste of money. The only person who sees it is you.

CRAs supply account data to lenders. Lenders combine this with other data - eg stuff you write on the form, any history you have with them etc. They then run their own algorithms based on their own policies and will make a decision according to their own lending criteria.

People regularly report getting 999 credit scores here only to be refused credit.

yeah all we conclude from someone comming on here quoting a credit score is they haven't a clue what it actually represents.....

(ie nothing/a number made up by experian etc to sell to people)

Are you sure? When I signed up (with Experian) it was only the access to credit reports that was free (assuming you cancelled the trial). The score was chargeable.

    Perhaps your deal was different.

I thought these scores were chargeable too. And none of the CRAs lend money so these are worthless anyway

Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
