Should we be worried re: house sale/survey?

Hi there,
I'm just looking for some advice/reassurance etc and would welcome any thoughts please..............
We put our house on the market just over a month ago and had an offer we were happy with after less than two weeks. The prospective purchasers were very keen and had sold their own house already with two others ahead in the chain.
They informed us after their offer was accepted that their own buyer was looking to complete in mid May and that they hoped we would be ok with this, which we were, although at that point we obviously had yet to find a house ourselves.
They have since been back twice to measure up etc and have told us they have already got quotes from removal companies and started to pack.
Despite this we are still waiting to hear that they've booked a survey.............I know the survey was done on their house last week.............and we are now getting worried about the length of time this is taking, seeing as they were the ones looking for an early completion date.
We have only just found a property ourselves and had an offer accepted today (vendor going into rented so no chain there) so have only just started to fill out the forms relating to the sale as we didn't want to incur too many costs in case we ended up withdrawing from the sale.
Is it normal for the survey to have not been arranged yet?
Last time we sold was to a cash buyer who didn't have a survey and I can't remember the timings from our sale before that.
I think maybe tomorrow we will ask our estate agent to chase them about this - does that sound like a good idea?
Many thanks

Thread today, on the mortgage forum, with 1 month gone and buyer still unable to get Lender to arrange survey...
Lenders are not rushing to dish out funds. Whether its simply incompetence or a clever-ish way to ration their limited funds, is unclear.Act in haste, repent at leisure.

I think some companies can be a bit slow, but things often move quite quickly once the survey has been done so I wouldn't worry too much

Our survey was done two weeks after we put the offer in, and we received the mortgage offer two days later.

Thanks for your reassurances

Just a quick update - I missed a call from the surveyor yesterday and on calling them back was told the person concerned had gone home for the day but would be calling me on Monday to arrange a convenient time to do the survey............so hopefully we are getting somewhere now!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

I am using ING Direct for my mortgage. My offer was accepted Wednesday afternoon (30/03/11); the survey is happening today (3rd working day since accepted). The Estate Agent was pretty impressed by the speed of that.0

We've just found Lloyds amazingly quick. We applied by phone last Tuesday, valuer went to the flat on Wednesday, and the mortgage offer was made on Friday....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
