If the weather's ok there's also brilliant adventure playparks at Camperdown Park and Castle Green in Broughty Ferry.
This is the link to the parks:

There's also a 'What's On' section which is really handy:

There's also the Blue Seaway sandy playpark down the front at Monifieth...death slides, musical chimes, turntables and a mini assault course thing... can't remember the proper name of them. If you follow the road round from where the entrance to the first caravan park is (next to the park) to get to the second one there's a guy in a catering van who does fantastic hot chocolate. You'll need it to keep warm!
Broughty castle is next to Castle Green playpark, free parking down the front, put postcode dd52tf into the sat-nag. If the rain starts the little museum in the castle is free entry and is aimed at kids, but if the rain stays off they can play at the park or on the beach round the corner from the castle ( it's a blue flag beach, cleaned daily in summer season)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

The one that opened fairly recently is pirates island which is just up the road from Camperdown Park. Camperdown wildlife centre has just reopened and has a new visitor centre which is apparently quite impressive. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

Thanks so much for the tips.
Thankfully the weather was great so we went to the Wildlife park at Camperdown. I have to say Id totally recommend it. £10 for a family ticket and we got lunch for the 4 of us too for under a tenner. Definitely worth a visit, I was amazed at the range of animals
We then went to the Weavers Mill and the girls went to the play area there for a bit and we relaxed with coffees.
We're back in St Andrews in August so will keep the suggestions in mind - just incase0 -
