Why don't you use the £13 to make him a little picnic? Buy and make some lovely food and go to your nearest park or other nice place and feed him well. That will surely be more memorable than a piece of toot you buy him because you "have to buy him something". It's the thought that counts it really is.
It always rains on the 29th April. Always always! I said it to myself when I heard the news that that was the date. It doesn't matter too much because they won't be outside for all that long. They aren't like us commoners who have to stand outside in the cold to get our photos done :D
Cream tea up at the school this afternoon. DH and I are off to buy the food for our BBQ in a tick. Hopefully not too expensive. o one else ever brings anything. I would much prefer it if they did. At least you would know you had enough and it's not going to bankrupt you.
I'm not providing alcohol for them all though, they can bring their own.

sofababe - i read this and went to check the tesco site to see if it was true - OMG it is. People are having a moan on the dtd thread but really they've had 2 good months at this and I can't see what there is to complain about. I'm glad it's over really, now I can stop stressing over vouchers and what to get. Don't know what some of the people on that thread are going to do with themselves now.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Are we going to welcome back the deserters? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I mean I once tried to read that thread  Blimey, I never went back!! Moves infinitely faster than this one, and this one's pretty fast!!

One IN: Hair conditioner from B**ts to trial. It's my first product since signing up with them :j Smells nice, just hope it's nice to use too!

That would be a nice idea, except that £13 isnt really spare cash, that is how much I now have to live off....Was holding out on the £15 cheque from Alba but they still havent turned up...

OH was actually a bit dissapointed about his birthday, he was going to take it off work but his boss informed him the other day he's booked him in for a meeting that day, so the chances are he'll be stuck in the office all day and won't even be home for lunch.

Heyho, I think he'll have to make do with what Ive got him - the least amount ever....A free card from funky pigeon and 2 books he wanted which I got second hand.
Doesnt seem to really compare to the 24k gold, diamond earings he bought for my birthday....:o

I was just going to bin it but the MSE in me wouldn't let me. Luckily it was all gone by the time i got to my arms and i had to use S&G Righteous butter on them. :D At least today i shouldn't keep getting a wiff of the vile stuff.

    Morning everyone

Haven't posted for a week or so and there are so many posts (promise to catch up soon).
I feel I am slowly but surely using things up.:T I have one more application of shampoo in my 1 litre MOP bottle so will be pleased when that's gone and have not bought anything all month. Yes, I know I have been doing this challenge since the New Year but am pleased I have had a "No spend month" - determined to make it to Sunday with no purchases. Anyway, feel happy as there is a L'occitane TSV today on QVC which I haven't the slightest bit of interest in. :j Blimey, I think I'm cured. I am waiting for one parcel to arrive though -my half-price Easter egg from Hotel Chocolat -can't wait:D

    Bye for now:)

i've ended up at home today as my daughter's not well and I've collected her from school. Was watching some QVC and was not impressed by the TSV either (my sister got me a set of mini sizes for Christmas which I'm saving mostly for my hols in October so it's senseless buying more :money:). Did see the Holiday Surprise in the 12.00noon show and was very tempted but then decided not to as I still have two full sized L'occitane Liquid Handwashes in my stash and would prefer to buy a set of two rather than that and yet another shower gel. See I'm learning. What made me sit up and think though was the set of 3 body creams on previous to the Holiday Surprise. They were £44.00 for the three plus the p&p. I'm temping at the mo and days like today I don't get paid for. Given that there have been a lot of Bank Holidays recently this week I came out with just over £47.00 (there's also been a blip in Payroll recently to account for this!) so this item would have cost me a week's wage. Thinking of it like that made me realise how out of touch QVC really are. Another gripe I have with them is that I didn't hear them mention the size of these pots once so when I commented on the price to Emma she said they are only £15.00 each and I then reasoned that a pot of TBS body butter costs £12.50 so not far short but then I looked on their website and the L'Occitane pots are only 100mls each whereas TBS are 200mls. I think I've had my wake up call re: QVC at last (though whether I'll be saying that on 4 May when the OPI TSV is on is another matter lol).

UU the mini Righteous Butter as predicted, and the mini Clean On Me this morning. WIBA? No but only because I have a full size of both and many, many others to use up, but I do love the smell, so in theory yes I would, in about 6 years!! BS Moringa next I think.

I've got a Rightous butter on the go at the moment. My daughter has just finished off a tube of Lacoste Pink shower gel but still has the body lotion left. Do you think that Clean on Me will compliment this? Thought they may do as they're both floral. I have a Clean on Me in stash from the Xmas tote so could shop from the stash.

    :money:
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Charlie, I don't think he'll mind not getting anything yet. And definitely don't compare with what you can/can't buy him with what he bought you. At the moment your financial circumstances are very different, and I'm sure he understands that. Keep the money for an emergency. A nice dinner for when he gets home on his birthday will probably make him pretty happy :)

When your circumstances change, then just buy him something then :) I'm sure he'd rather that than you be totally skint.

charlie, don't worry about not having the cash to splash. For many many years DH and I had to go without for Christmas, birthdays valentines and Mothers/ Fathers day because the money just was not there. Now we have the money so we do get stuff. What used to aggravate me was not the not recieving from each other but the fact that at Christmas we didn't because we were expected to buy so much for his family.
The year DD was born, DH's brother phoned us on Christmas eve at about 12MD to say his wifes siter had just arrived and had bought gifts for us and DD. This was terrible for us because we were sooooooo skint. We ended up going out and buying packets of Haribo sweets for them because that was all we could afford. We felt terrible and I think I actually cried that day :(.

That's awful, I don't really buy presents for many people, mums and dads and that's about it, we told people a few years ago we were stopping it, was a bit awkward but I'm very thick skinned. I buy random presents for people through the year if I see something they would love and this seems to mean more to them.

charlie - a card and books that he wants sounds great, don't worry about it a moment longer, I would be very happy with that from my DH whether we had more money to spend or not.

charlie - I agree with the others hun - My OH gets second-hand books from me for b'days/xmas etc and he loves them because I've got him something he likes rather than an expensive gift he'll never use (like the bl00dy karaoke machine he went on and on about and hasn't been used since December! :p)

One of my neighbours is getting into the royal wedding spirit early :D She's sat in her garden blasting a CD which sounds like a mix of Vera Lynn, Kings College Boys Choir and The St Winifreds School Choir :rotfl: Bless her :D She keeps turning it up for 'Jerusalem' and 'Land of Hope & Glory' :rotfl:

One IN today - Freebie Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo & Conditioner but I'm putting it aside for my mum's xmas stocking :D

One UU - the mishmash of No7 Day/Night Creams I've been using on my feet: WIBA? Doubt it - not sure if they were in/out of date but they just smelt funny and were really thick and greasy - good for my feet though :rotfl:
