Bio or Non Bio Logical washing powder?

Hope this is the right place, but what is the diffrence between bio and non bio logical washing powder?

We have a 2 year old and I have been told to use Bio-Logical cause of his clothes, is this true and does it matter?

It depends on what kind of staining the clothes have. Biological detergents contain enzymes and when used at certain temperatures act as stain-removers. A lot of Mums don't like to use bio for small baby's laundry for fear of excema or allergic reactions although I've never personally known anyone to have been affected in that way. If you're perfectly happy with the quality of the detergent you're using at present I see no reason to change to bio

Biological powders/liquids have live enzymes in which help 'eat' the dirt (biological stains like blood, sweat and tears, also egg, urine, wine etc.).

I would have thought it more likely you've been told not to use biological for your youngster since some people reckon they are allergic to the live enzymes and get a reaction, though studies are supposed to have shown that this doesn't happen.

Yeah sorry I meant not to use Biological, At the moment we are using Fairy Non Biological washing powder but it does not remove the stains from his our clothes, so I was considering using Airel Biological but am a little worried as my son has eczima.

In that case you should do the stain-removal prior to laundering. Why not invest in a bar of Fairy household soap and a nailbrush?

OP, I use soap nuts. A 1kg is most likely going to last me 6 months or more, though it does cost £11. I have severe eczema, which has cleared up since I started using soap nuts. These take care of most stains without a problem, anything tough I just put a little Vanish on it beforehand.

i can't use biological on my clothes, it brings me out in a red itchy rash and always has done, it did the same to my dad.

I use bio on pet bedding, curtains and if ds1 has accidents in bed.

I use non bio on everything else.

Biologicial is best for your whites. Plus it stops that awful mould that gathers around the seal of the WM.
Sadly I have discovered all of this too late and have greying whites and mould round the WM door :rotfl:
