I had to smile

In the delivery office today a smartly dressed woman was asking about the postal increase on Monday. She carefully noted down the new price for 1st class and said she would be in the following week to buy a book of 1st class stamps. I butted in and told her she could buy them today and they would be cheaper, but she fixed me with a stare and assured me that fiddling the PO was not somehting she would do.

The guy behind the counter also told her it would be OK to buy them today to save money, and she gave him such a telling off on the basis that the Post office might not know when she bought them, but she would and she couldn't live with that on her conscience.

Being helpful confuses folks sometimes Soolin.

In the supermarket last week I was picking a bag of mixed peppers (they were all supposed to be the same weight but were all different). The lady beside me picked up a small bag and I mentioned to her that she should might want to look for another bag as the one she had was much smaller than some of the others. She looked at me as if I were some crazed woman about to steal her purse. :p

I used to work with someone who bored everyone to death with his claims of honesty and integrity in everything he did, his charity work, his work for his local church and the work he did for his local community.

... He was later caught fiddling the value of a personal cheque. :o

I was extremely amused though as she was quite posh and managed to make both me and the Post Office clerk feel like naughty school children!

Waitrose currently have multi-packs of tuna in spring water on BOGOF. I pointed this out to someone buying just one, and had a very similar lecture about 'taking advantage'. Spring must bring them out.
