Hi all,
Its just a trivial matter that caught me out today and thought I would warn people just incase they get caught too!
All my Direct Debits go out on the 1st or 2nd of the month and when I signed up to pet insurance with pet-insurance.co.uk (EL&I) they asked me which day I wanted it taken on. Naturally I said the 1st of each month.
Unfortunately I have just been told by them that their direct debits always go out of your account on a "Lunar Monthly Basis"!!
Unfortunately I didn't know this until it had already bounced out of my account the day before I was paid! Leaving me with a £16 charge from the bank.
It was only a £10 Monthly payment and if I had known I would have transferred some money in! Jointly me and the wife are on over £150,000, although thanks to MR.Osbourne we dont exactly see much of it, and so £10 is hardly alot, but at the same time I LOATHE giving more moeny to the banks!
So just to warn EVERYONE. If you have a new direct debit...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check you know when they take it each month as Lunar is of course every 28days so in theory it could end up going out at all times of the month as the year goes on.
In this case it was clearly just a way of showing a cheaper premium. I shall not fall for the same mistake again!!
