Magnolia Tree?
Hi all
After the frozen winter killed a couple of plants in my garden, I have despatched them, but now am left with a few gaps. I picked up a wee jasmine plant in lidl the other day, and my neighbour has a tree that I think is beautiful, and I think its a magnolia tree.
I got the jasmine because it was a bargain, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to grow, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. And any advice on whether to get a magnolia tree and if so how/where it is best put would also be welcome.
Thanks for all your expertise and advice.

The only advice I can give is that I know some magnolias can get REALLY REALLY big! So make sure you find a type that fits in the space you have available. We have a magnolia stellata which is I think a smaller one but still I think it could grow much bigger than the space we have for it (it wasn't us who planted it!).0

Plus consider where you live - some of the more traditional magnolias flower earlier and are liable for the flowers to get zapped by frost, depending on how sheltered you are.
I also have a magnolia stellata - came as a freebie saying dwarf magnolia so I stuck it in a pot where it has lived happily for a couple of years but is now getting a bit big. When I googled it has an eventual height of 3m and spread of 4m.
Which I hope I can keep under control by pruning, but it does just go to show that "dwarf" is a comparative term!
Jasmine is quite easy to grow - what type is it? Some of them are a bit rampant - I bought the wrong one and the flowers were too small, barely scented and hidden by the foliage so I got rid in the end. Whereas next doors smells lovely and seems to thrive on being ignored. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
