Problem using email

When I am using email (outlook) I am having a slight difficulty. I think the problem is confined to links from email to the internet. They appear blue and underlined as usual but when you click on it you get the message: ‘This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please consult your system administrator’!
There must be a simple way to get over this but I'm not computer savvy. Can someone assist me please?

It is most likely that your browser’s association has become corrupt in some way.
I found the easiest way to cure this was to ensure the htmlfile registry key was correctly set up:
You will need to open regedit.exe and go to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command
There should be a string value inside there called (Default) – in most cases it seems the following should work:
“C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” -nohome
Make sure this is correct, close everything down and restart Outlook.
NB. make sure Outlook is completely closed – ie. OUTLOOK.EXE is no longer in task manager.

For someone who is not computer savvy, not being able to click on an email link could be a good thing at it prevents problem like this.
You should never just blindly click on an email link to the internet.

Thank you both for your advice. I don't know much about computers but have had the dangers of indiscriminate clicking drummed into me so I take your point. I'd still like to have the facility if I can.
One additional clue, it worked perfectly at first and only suddenly developed this quirk, I'm wondering if we clicked on something by mistake that changed the setting? The answer in reply one is a bit scary for a non-computer man, is there any chance I could change it back with a few more clicks!!0 -

If you follow the advice, its not too hard0 -
I'd stick with copying and pasting URLs from emails into the browser - then you can see more easily where the link's actually taking you, before you choose to go there. (And if it's a link where you can't copy the URL, you're better off navigating to the site another way anyway.)0
