Slide show I can control?

OK here is the latest frustration. I want to do a slide show on a DVD or CD that I can advance manually from one slide to the next. Should be simple! But every time I try I get automatic slide advance or fade out after about 5 secs. I tried using iPhoto and Toast Titanium8.
HELP.

On my ancient Panasonic DVD player, I can put the photos as jpg(s) on a CD and it will play them in order photo11.jpg, photo12.jpg and so on. (start at 11 if you have more than 10 photos)

I'm sure one of the options is manual advance. Let the dvd Player do the work.

Thanks, I don't have a problem with showing the pics in order and can advance them using the DVD remote but how do I stop the automatic slide show?

Not much help, but mine has slide show on/off in the on-screen menu

You could try increasing the individual slide time to the maximum (should be more than 5 seconds) and using the next button to advance to the next slide.

SOLVED. As it is a Mac I was dragging and dropping the pics into Toast, But if I drag and drop the first pic I then click on it and "add" more pics and I can choose a time between pics or manual advance.
AAARRRGGGHHH why don't they tell you this in the many pages of instructions?
