Hi,
I have been given a refurbished computer froma local building Co. Before they gave it to me the hard disc was wiped clean. It has therefore no operating system on it. Can I somehow copy windows XP from this computer to put on the other one or do I have to buy a copy of windows. I have no back up disk available.
Any advice please.

What COA sticker does it have on the case? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
if the PC still has the COA sticker on it with the XP serial number on
then you can reinstall from any XP disk you can lay your hands on and just enter the serial number. if you need to ring Microsoft to activate for some rason then just tell them you had to reinstall itEx forum ambassador

Hi thanx for that, I have one of those stickers with the no. on, but finding it difficult to find a disk with xp on it. I have it on a restore disk with my e-machines but it will not work on any other computer.0

or download it from one of the many p2p sites.
Perfectly legal, you pay for the licence not the software. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
