in Credit cards
Hi all
I have 3 credit cards and recently paid off the balance in full on a Virgin card - actually leaving me in credit of about 40p. I happened to be in my bank on other business and instructed them to cancel the direct debit. However, after checking my credit card online this morning, I see they have charged me £12 for an unpaid direct debit.:(
I was never in default on this or any other card from the day I got it - I set up a direct debit straight away and paid off extra money during the month if I could. When I spoke to Virgin the first day to confirm the balance on the account, I did advise them that I wanted to pay off in full and close the account.
Could anyone advise if I have any chance of getting this money back?
Thanking you in advance

What date did you pay off the balance?
What date was your DD due to go out?
What date did you tell the bank to cancel the DD?
If you did not leave enough time between your payment then the cc company will still try to collect the DD.
I would try ringing virgin and seeing if they will waiver the charge.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I paid the balance off on 11/03/11.
The dd was due out on 23rd March.
I instructed the bank on 18th March.
I will call them today - hope my previous payment record helps me!! Will report back!
