Hi,
I have been running iGO 8 on an HTC TyTn II. The phone has become unreliable and keeps switching itself off. But I like the software and have France and Spain maps.
Can I install the software on a SatNav device if I buy one? If so, any device or do I need a particular type?
Thanks.

No. Dedicated sat nav devices come with their own software installations which cannot be changed. If so, any device or do I need a particular type?
That's Windows Mobile 6.0 right? You'd need to buy another Windows Mobile 6.0 device to ensure it works, even then it might well be locked to your particular device. I'd ask the makers of iGO if you can transfer your copy.
Otherwise it's available for iPhone too, but again not sure you'd be able to transfer your maps.0 -
In theory yes.
Many sat nav devices run windows CE which should run igo. It might not be 100% straight forward depending on the sat nav. However generally the maps and program are kept on an SD card. If you replace the files on the SD card with the igo files and remane the igo .exe file to the name of the .exe file of the original satnav program it should work. The Gps settings will need to be reconfigured.
Sometimes however windows ce on cheap sat navs do not have all the files needed.
Thinking about it some of the cheap sav navs on ebay come with igo already installed.0 -

Yes they can ....You can install TomTom, igo, Garmin and many other satnav software packages on "cheap" satnav hardware. There are websites that tell you how, but it is obviously not legal and requires some level of technical knowledge.0 -
Why is it not legal? So long as you have a legal copy of the sat nav software I don't see any problems.0

I have a cheap navigo bought from ebuyer. I have installed tomtom, igo, route66 etc on it. No problems.
Uses Windows CE. Depends what device your software is designed to run on. Device specific?
How did you install it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

it's running on windows mobile 6.0 as mark hewitt guessed. I just copied the files to my sd card.
is it difficult to install on the navigo?0 -
There are many that you could choose, the ones sold by eBuyer are popular and the reviewer of this product here has installed iGo Primo on it.
Thanks everyone for your advice.
I bought this one. Tried the software it comes with and as the reviewer says, its junk.
iGO8 didnt work so I got iGO Primo and that seems to work ok.
Thanks everyone for help! :beer:0
