Seat Ibiza S Reg Diesel

Hey Guys

Just a quick question, My friend has a old seat ibiza which when he drives it at any speed it randomly cuts out and re starts. The heater plug light comes on for a split second and then goes off. The car still continues to drive without any other problems but this seems a strange one.

Again I have never known any the old VW engines to do this has anyone came across something similar or perhaps know what the fault could be, He is worried it cuts out and does not start again which could be quite dangerous.

Regards Gerrard.

  • You could try a few things like cleaning the throttle body as well as the stabilization valve. In case you have an issue of finding the Idle Stabilization valve, it's a aluminium cylinder on the top of the valve cover. After taking it off, give it a nice clean. Also just a though, but you can buy a code scanner at ebay and that should help you in further troubleshooting

How well is this vehicle maintained? When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
  • Hey Hammy

The Car had all its filters replaced at its last service 2000 miles ago so its all new parts, it is only a split second the car cuts out and then carrys on driving. Its one of the worst kind of faults because it is intermittent and it is not guarantee'd to happen it done it 3 times on the way to work then never done it on his way home.

    Typical.
