I am on AOL Broadband Gold at 24.99 month having upgraded a few months ago, but it doesn't seem that much faster. When i hover the mouse over the little green arrows in the bottom right corner of the screen it says
Tx 288 kbps
Rx 2272 kbps
what does this tell me ?.
i did read another thread about checking your speed, and i followed a link to another web-site and it ran a test but i have no idea if it was good or bad ?
How do i know if my broadband is running as fast as it should please..

Typo impy, upload speed is probably supposed to be 256 Kilo bits per second
Dunkyboy's speeds look okNever interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
It's worth the effort.. a router gives added protection. Personally I wouldn't use a modem on broadband.
(if it's wireless, encrypt it, or turn the wireless off if you don't need it)

AOL are the best people to go with0

you are on 2mb and might be stuck on a 2mb BRAS profile.
Might be an idea phoning AOL and/or bt to see if your BRAS profile is set to 2 MB.
IF you can't get any fast than 2mb you migtht want to move to a cheaper package.0 -

You are joking arent you?
The only people who I would recommend use AOL are those that are total newbies. Anyone who is even slightly more comfortable can get much better deals and service with other ISPsAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I agree. I went with AOL because I didn't really no much about other ISP's and as soon as my contract expires I will be going elsewhere! AOL are useless0
