Do any other parents use moshi monsters to spy on their kids?

I know it's a terrible invasion of privacy but frankly I can't help myself...:rotfl:

  • How do you do that?

I am my oldest son's friend on Facebook (with his permission), but I rarely look. I only have this because he has had problems with bullying in the past and I wanted to keep an eye on what was being said to him. However, since the bullying stopped I have not checked.

My middle son's 2 best friends use Club Penguin and I know both of their mums are active on there. My middle son keeps trying to persuade me to join, but I feel a bit funny about it.

It's great they have message boards and anyone can see what they've written (unless they delete the messages). All the kids at their school are obsessed with it and seem to live out their lives on the message boards.

The reason I started monitoring it was that my son was bullied quite badly last year so I just wanted to make sure everythig was OK at first. Now I'm just being nosy. I find that if someone asks them "who are your top 3 girls" (which seems to be the most asked question) I can't quite help myself clicking on the other persons board to see the reply. I really know I shouldn't do this as it's almost like bugging their rooms really...
  • My youngest goes on Moshi Monsters but as he can't read yet, I don't think he visits the message boards!

The school sent home a letter informing parents that Moshi Monsters was dangerous because it had message boards (the head teacher is the most anti computer person I have ever met. She seems scared of them).

Anyway, as DS3 can't read yet I decided not to worry until he was older!

My son is older but uses fb and he asked me to be his friend but I only see his status never look at his page.
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

    What is a Moshi Monster?
  • We've had to monitor OH's little brother's useage of Moshi Monsters and Club Penguin.

He's 7 and him and his friends have thought nothing of accepting every friend request they get.

Ever since the reports of !!!!!philes using those sites we've been extra careful.

Its Club Penguin with my DD, but same thing really, they have messageboards, can chat to other "Penguins" while playing the games etc.
I don't allow my DD to use the laptop unless she's in the same room as me, and when she started using Club Penguin I told her anyone could be pretending to be someone they're not behind a computer screen, so she is only to chat to Penguins she knows in real life (ie she has her friends' Penguin names so looks out for them).
My DD has facebook, I am on her list as a friend, and I do check who's posting what on her fb. Thats where I see the silly stuff about who loves who in her school etc.

Has anyone else had a problem with Moshi Monsters membership being hacked in to?
My son has never told anyone ( apart from us)his user name and it is still happening. A few nights ago he changed it again, went to bed and in the morning he signed on and it had been hacked again. The usernames and passwords are quite random.
Have spoken to Moshi and emailed them but they said it is impossible - well it is not!
It will be interesting if this has happened to anyone else

I have 3 of my children on FB (under 13 are not allowed accounts) they are 16, 15 and 13.5.. they are not allowed to not have me.. I want to know what others are saying to them as much as what they are saying.. I occasionally stick a comment on the girls status's but DS2 doesn't use it much. OH has DS2 on the WoW account so he can monitor what he is doing there too.

My younger children (12 and under) are not allowed online without an adult standing watch anyway.
