previously clean cat soiling in house

my little cat, one year old has been litter box trained and very clean then started soiling on the floor so I put another box out for her, one used for poo's one for wee's.(both boxes in the cloakroom) She goes outside during the day but comes home to the box for a poo, tonight she wee'd on the carpet in the hall ignoring the wee box in the cloakroom but doing a poo in the 'proper' place, what's going on?

Comments

  • Could be medical obviously.

Could be stress related - any changes in the house recently? Change in work hours, new pets, DIY etc etc? If not it could be an outside stress - a new cat on her territory, new dogs etc.
  • I would get her checked over at the vets, sudden inappropriate urination can be a sign of cystitis which is very painful for them.

I would get her checked at the vets.

Does she actually have one she uses for pees and one for poos? That's quite impressive if she knows the difference!

Could it be that she only wants to go in one of the trays, and it already has a poo in it?

I agree with the others, it sounds as if she has a Urine infection or some other illness so please get her checked out just to be on the safe side anyway.
